Yes, boys and girls, the queen is feeling mel-low with capital MEL (maybe like melon, which would be nice right about now); the sun’s out, blasting away, by ten o’clock it’s really too hot to move fast. It must be about eight months or so since we were last able to keep the doors open all day. Verrrry nice.
Our California visitors have returned, always good to see you. And no, I don’t have a MySpace page. Honestly… (rustling up the snob) I’m neither a musician nor a kid, so the blog’s just fine, thank you. 🙂
So what’s going on today? Been stickin’ my sticky nose into Kerouac’s On the Road. This is my third attempt to read it; always caught a snag before, but this time, it’s flowin’ like it’s supposed to. Excellent. And very nice intro on the man, as well. Interesting to look back on America in the Fifties and once again realize that young people dream the same dreams in every decade. For you German speakers out there, Kerouac is a recommendation I picked up from a book of to-do lists, if you will: Tu’s Doch gives you 365 ideas on how to bring a fresh breeze into your life. I’m having a good time with it. 🙂 Next up: spoil your feet (seriously)!
And now you’ll have to excuse me. The boys have had their walk, and before they start nagging about dinner, I must go and get an icecream cone. It would be blasphemy to let the day go by without one…
