Winter Came
Winter came on quiet feet last night. It snowed in my Inbox before it really started snowing outside. But then I listened to Sarah Brightman’s “Winter Symphony” in the car, snowflakes caught in the headlights all the way past Ludwigsburg, and it was near perfection. Tonight, a couple of lovely Bratäpfel will be just the thing against the cold.
Your Wish was my Command
I’m kind of a spur of the moment gal, so when I initiated the blog project 2008 (Your Musical Wish Concert), I was stoked to get actual requests from real people. Well, it’s over now, but you can still listen to the playlist at blip.fm. Here’s the listing of titles I played. I say thank you to the participants, I had a lot of fun! We must do it again sometime.

4. Run Rudolph Run, the Brian Setzer Orchestra

Reunification Day: the Aftermath
While Maria wonders why the Germans don’t celebrate their National Holiday and Steffi wishes they would, I have an answer to why they don’t: they can’t. They’re too busy whining about it. People my age that were teenagers or worse, kids, when the two Germanies came back together just can’t quit complaining about having to pay for rebuilding the East, supporting all those worthless Ossis, blablabla.
My advice: sit back, crack open another one of those soon to be disappearing German beers, and shut the hell up. Really. Eighteen years later, nothing’s going to change. If you think you wished you were living in the good old days, you have no idea how much I wish you did. Then you wouldn’t be here now boohooing. The government will always find new and innovative ways to steal your money, and they’ve just recently added a few new ones. The solidarity fee is nothing compared to the current attempts to fix a broke system. Whine about that.
And pretend for once that you’re an open, friendly and tolerant people when it doesn’t relate to Fussball.
